Introducing Suella: UX Designer
04 May 2026
Hi Suella, welcome to the team!

Where did you work prior to Devoli and what was your main role there?
I’ve worked across a mix of environments, from large advertising agencies to boutique studios and SaaS companies, in both design and engineering roles.
That mix has shaped how I approach problems: balancing creativity with practicality, and thinking about both how something looks, how it works, how it feels. In my last role, I focused on frontend engineering and UX, leading the delivery of complex product experiences, contributing to design systems, and helping scale frontend practices across teams.
What will you be doing at Devoli? Describe your role and how you fit into the wider business?
I’m here to lead the UX direction for the next chapter of Devoli. My role focuses on shaping end-to-end product experiences backed by user insights, bridging design and engineering, and ensuring we deliver solutions that are both intuitive for users and aligned with business goals.
What are you looking forward to most about the coming year, personally and work-wise?
Personally, I’m looking forward to turning my golf handicap from ‘pending’ into a number, and trekking to Everest Base Camp.
Work-wise, I’m excited to tackle the complexity inherent in telco systems and improve the experience for those who operate them. Having grown up with dial-up internet, I’ve seen how access to connectivity has evolved into something people can’t realistically live without. I’m motivated to make that complexity invisible while preserving control for users.
How do you plan to harness AI technology in your role going forward?
I see AI as a way to speed up insight and iteration, helping us prototype faster, test ideas earlier, and tighten feedback loops with users, so we’re continuously learning and adjusting rather than waiting until the end.
Having taste and a vision that is grounded in lived experience and human connection with users will be key to guiding AI toward great outcomes.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I tend to collect experiences. I used to lean more toward theatre and food, but lately I’ve shifted toward sport and more adrenaline-heavy activities. I’ve completed an Ironman and gone skydiving over the Great Barrier Reef - Queenstown is next on my list. That said, I’ll always make time for good cheese.
